Type
Redoubt is a composite volcanoo, otherwise known as a stratovolcano. It is also a continental volcano.
Geologic Location
Redoubt is located in Alaska, US. Cities that are near by the volcanoe are Anchorage, Port Alsworth, Pedro Bay and Homer. Redoubt is at the subduction boundary of the North American and Pacific tectonic plates
Eruption History
The most recent activity that has been reported at the Redoubt Volcano was on March 22, 2009. Hte most famous eruption at Redoubt was the eruption of 1989-1990 because it had the biggest effect on the people and the commerce.

Volcano Shape
The elevation of Mount Redoubt 10197ft high. Redoubt is a steep-sided cone said to have a diameter of 10km at the base and witha volume of 30-35 cubic kilometers. There is an ice-filled crater breached on the north side of the volcano near a glacier known as the Drift Glacier. The most recently active vent is located on the north side of the crater at the head of the Drift Glacier.
Neighboring Volcanoes
Some of the volcanoes that are near Redoubt are Iliamna Volcano and the Augustine Volcano.
Eruption Style
Redoubt is a very explosive volcano and when it does explode many hazards can occur. Some of the hazards are lava flows, pyroclastic deposits and lahars. Redoubt rests on Mesozoic granite rock of the Alaska-Aleutian Range batholith.
Environmental Dangers
Many people in Anchorage are worried the a lahar, mud flow, could damage a near by oil terminal that hold about 6 milllion gallons of oil. They were thinking of trying to move the cans to a safer spot but so far the cans have not been ruptured yet so they mey not have to move them. Also many rivers are starting to flood and the Drift River Valley is now cover in debris. The lahars have wiped out many trees and are causing many animals to loose their homes.
